Enrolling with EVIT
IT’S A TWO-STEP PROCESS
Step #1: EVIT Eligibility - Must be completed PRIOR to EVIT application
LEAO Eligibility Requirements to participate in ECCP Evit:
Positive attendance status
Positive behavior status; no major discipline record within past year
Good academic standing; on track to graduate
Minimum 2.0 GPA
LEAO students that meet the above eligibility requirements must submit an Early College & Career Program Application and EVIT Enrollment: Student & Parent Agreement Form to the Academic Advisor, Ms. Tate (ktate@leadingedgeacademy.com).
Notification of EVIT eligibility will be given via email to the student and parent.
Step #2: EVIT Application - Must be completed AFTER eligibility confirmation email is received
Approved/EVIT eligible students register online @ EVIT.
To register, students will need:
Unofficial transcript (may be downloaded from StudentVUE)
Immunization records
Birth certificate
Proof of residency
Discipline record (inquire at thinshaw@leadingedgeacademy.com)
Students may register for AM or PM classes at EVIT. If interested in transportation from GEC, students must participate in the PM program.
Once accepted, students should forward a copy of their acceptance letter to Ms. Tate (ktate@leadingedgeacademy.com) to confirm enrollment.
Attendance
EVIT students are required to be enrolled full time at LEAO, with a minimum course load of four online courses. Attendance is essential for student success at EVIT. Absences from class may result in a serious disruption to the student’s mastery of the instructional material or the student being dropped from the course; therefore, the student and parents should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences. Please refer to each instructor’s syllabus for the attendance policy for the course. The instructor’s attendance policy often differs from the attendance policy set by Leading Edge Academy Online. The Leading Edge Academy school calendar and the school calendar for EVIT may differ. If the college is still in session and Leading Edge Academy is not in session, please make every effort to be in attendance for college courses to ensure success.
Grade Reporting and Transcripts
Each student is responsible for reporting mid-term grades to the Academic Advisor/Ms. Tate. Final grades for the semester must be submitted to the Academic Advisor/Ms. Tate. In addition, high school credit will not be awarded for EVIT courses until official final grades/transcripts are received. Leading Edge Academy has an MOU agreement with EVIT, allowing for exchange of student information for enrolled students.
Withdrawing from or failing an EVIT course may impact a student's graduation eligibility. It may also impact a student’s ability to receive financial aid in the future as well as a student's ability to enroll in additional EVIT courses. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the Academic Advisor/Ms. Tate if withdrawing from EVIT courses.
Credit Equivalents
In compliance with the Arizona Department of Education, high school credit will be awarded as follows for EVIT course credits: 0.75 credit/quarter.
Transportation & School Hours
If necessary, transportation may be provided from GEC to the EVIT campus. It is the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to make arrangements for pick up from EVIT. To coordinate transportation to EVIT, please contact the GEC main office @ (480) 545-8011.
Student Code of Conduct
EVIT students must abide by the Student-Parent Handbook policies as well as the LEAO Handbook. Each student is expected to follow the policies and procedures set by EVIT. Non-compliance with expectations may result in disciplinary action by EVIT and/or Leading Edge Academy.
Payment and Fees
Program and/or required equipment fees are the responsibility of the student and parents.
