LEAO Communications Policy

Keeping effective lines of communication with families is challenging for every Teacher and Principal. For an online school that is made a bit more difficult. The teachers are at times working remotely from their homes, like the students. We miss many of the casual chances to touch base, such as when a student is dropped off or picked up from the school. While we make use of multiple services like emails, zoom and phone calls to keep up it’s tough to make it feel the same. Not to mention other extra channels and chats in some of our curriculum platforms. As such, we decided to take a different approach this year.
What we needed was:
A simple and easy-to-use platform that can still enable us to call you when needed, and keep in touch through other methods as well.
We Believe we have found the right service and want to introduce SchoolStatus
Leading Edge Academy Online has engaged the services of Schoolstatus as our new communications platform. This is a big change to our organization's communication methods moving forward. We hope our families will join us as we explore the new avenues of discussion that SchoolStatus can open up.
We will send out invites to all parents or guardians to complete the setup for their schoolstatus account. You will only need to select a new password and set your preferences in the app to get started. We can provide a brief instruction on how by >> Clicking Here.
Schoolstatus works much like other social messaging apps, with the added benefit of organized sections for classrooms and subjects, allowing for focused communication on specific assignments. You can also direct message to a teacher or the principal anytime you need to discuss something related to your student. The threaded conversations from chat are always great to refer back to, in case you forget a due date or other instructions.
Beyond messaging, Schoolstatus offers some additional features. Your child’s teacher may create a resource library for the classroom or subject, complete with helpful links and aids. The chat service will allow for file uploads, a feature some teachers and grades may use for alternative way to submit assignments. Teachers and administrators can also send out newsletters or announcements to keep you in the loop for current school news.
While chat messaging with teachers is convenient, there may be times when a phone conversation is necessary. If you need to speak with a teacher, you can:
Request a call by messaging the teacher through the SchoolStatus app.
Send the teacher an email.
Call the LEAO office at (480) 257-5362, our staff will take a message and have the teacher return your call as soon as possible.
